What is 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride? Sometimes shortened to TTC, it is a chemical compound primarily used as a redox indicator in biochemical assays and microbiology. It's a colourless, water-soluble dye that turns red when reduced to formazan by living cells or microorganisms. This colour change allows researchers to assess cellular activity and viability, particularly in the context of cellular respiration and dehydrogenase activity.
Consistent Quality: We provide only high-quality 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride, ensuring reliable and consistent performance for all applications.
Shipped from Manchester, UK Facility: Sourced and packaged in non-toxic, chemical-resistant containers to ensure safe handling and preserve product quality during transport.
Redox Indicator
Acts as an electron acceptor, and its reduction to formazan is indicative of cellular metabolic activity.
Histology
TTC staining is used to distinguish between living and dead cells, as viable cells can reduce TTC, while dead cells cannot. One example of this is to help differentiate viable and infarcted tissue in heart and brain tissue after stroke.
Dehydrogenase Activity
TTC is reduced by dehydrogenases, enzymes involved in cellular respiration, making it a useful tool for measuring dehydrogenase activity.
