Polyester (PETE) Drain Disc (Mesh Spacer), 13mm - 293mm
Sterlitech polyester drain discs are spun-bonded polyester spacers designed to improve flow rates and prevent pore blockage in membrane filtration setups. Commonly used with PCTE and PETE membranes, these discs are placed between stacked filters to minimise pore blinding, enhance throughput, and increase exposure of capillary pores—especially when using screen-type membranes in serial configurations.
By slightly lifting the membrane off the support screen, the drain disc improves the accessibility of pores and helps prevent air locking of downstream filters. This ensures more consistent performance and maximised filtration area, particularly in multi-stage filtration assemblies.
Drain discs function as low-binding, inert spacers that maintain pore exposure, minimise pressure build-up, and in some cases partially filter upstream content by intercepting excess load. They are an essential component in serial filtration stacks, especially where downstream filters are sensitive to clogging or where maintaining high flow is critical. Select a disc size slightly smaller than the primary membrane to fit securely within the filter holder O-ring.
