Ashless Quantitative Filter Papers are high-purity filters made from 100% cotton linters and acid-washed to remove impurities. With an ash content of just 0.007%, they are ideal for gravimetric analysis and sample preparation where minimal residue is critical. These papers offer excellent wet strength, making them suitable for use with Buchner funnels in quantitative applications. Available in a wide range of pore sizes and formats, they meet international standards for analytical filtration.

Grade 354: is one of the fastest-filtering ashless papers in the Johnson Test Papers range. With an intermediate pore size of 12–15 µm and a filtration speed of 10 seconds (DIN 53137), it is ideal for high-throughput filtration of coarse and gelatinous precipitates. Grade 354 is commonly used in quantitative air and soil pollution analysis, including the preparation of environmental samples for metals testing. It is also used in steel and pig iron analysis for unstable precipitates such as silicon, where rapid filtration is essential. This grade is suitable for use in high-flow air monitoring systems and is available in a disposable 47 mm filter funnel format for convenience in routine applications.

Application: Wide pore filter paper used for coarse and voluminous precipitates such as iron, aluminium and chromium hydroxides, Si-determination in steel and pig iron analysis.

Key Features

Very Fast Filtration: Ideal for time-sensitive or high-throughput quantitative procedures.

Wide Pore Structure: Efficient for coarse, voluminous, or gelatinous precipitates.

Low Ash Content: 0.007% maximum, making it suitable for combustion and residue weighing.

Instrumental Prep: Supports rapid filtering of digested samples prior to metals analysis.

Convenient Formats: Available in disposable 47 mm filter funnels for easy handling.

  • Air pollution monitoring at high flow rates (e.g., XRF or gas compound analysis)
  • Quantitative soil and sludge filtration following acid digestion
  • Filtration of coarse hydroxides: iron, aluminium, zirconium, chromium, cobalt
  • Rapid analysis of unstable precipitates like silicon in steel and pig iron
  • Environmental metals testing in solid sample matrices
