What is Triacetin (Synthetic)? Also known as glyceryl triacetate, it is a chemical compound with the formula C₃H₅(OCOCH₃)₃. It's a triglyceride, a type of ester, and is used as a food additive, in cosmetics, and in pharmaceuticals. Triacetin is a colourless, odourless, and viscous liquid at room temperature, and it's known for its ability to act as a solvent, plasticiser, and preservative.
